Death Penalty: Yay or Nay?

In current times with prisons filling up and 49 billion tax dollars going to prisons each year it seems more and more questionable as to why we don’t allow the death penalty for the more serious crimes. The average per-inmate cost in 2010 was over $31,000, and the state prison population has grown 700% nationwide since the 1970s. A lot of taxpayer money is devoted to our prison system.

Think of the things we could be doing with just a portion of that money. For example we could put that money into keeping the homeless of the streets and feed. If we did this not only would it get people who actually need a home and food, but it may also reduce crime.
